For Youth Advocates

Tobacco-Free Kids Youth Advocacy Initiatives

Youth Advocates of the Year Awards

Our annual Youth Advocates of the Year Awards honor top young leaders from across the country — individuals who have fought hard to promote tobacco prevention legislation, expose tobacco marketing to kids and keep their peers from using tobacco.

Winners become Youth Ambassadors for the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, serving as leaders on a national stage.

Youth Advocacy Symposium

Each summer, select youth advocates from across the country are invited to gather in Washington, DC and receive training on media advocacy, policy change, successful event planning and more.

During the Symposium, youth advocate with members of Congress who help shape tobacco policy.

Global Youth Activism Training on Tobacco

Each year, youth advocates from across the country also gather in New York City to learn about the global toll of tobacco and how they can utilize their advocacy skills to become global tobacco control activists.

After the training, youth take direct action at the Philip Morris International (PMI) Shareholder's meeting, where youth both speak inside the meeting and demonstrate outside to protest PMI's latest campaign targeting youth around the world.

Activating For Action Training Program

Our Youth Advocacy team also travels the country providing strategic training to both young advocates and adult leaders who work with youth to build capacity in key advocacy skill areas and support the passage of life-saving policies.
