Staying Involved
Kick Butts this School Year
You don't need to wait until next March to STAND OUT, SPEAK UP, and SEIZE CONTROL against Big Tobacco.
Take advantage of your time in school by organizing an in-school activity that will make a huge difference in our fight against Big Tobacco. Big Tobacco never takes a break and neither should we!
Here are a couple of ideas:
-
Can’t get enough smoke-free movies? Disappointed by Hugo and The Adventures of Tintin? Take action to ban tobacco use in movies and de-glamorize the use of tobacco in your community with our Tobacco & Hollywood activities!
-
Want to stand up for an issue that affects your community? Advocate for a 100% Tobacco-Free Schools policy, prohibiting tobacco use at all times by staff, students and visitors on school property.
These are great ways to keep up your activism in the months before Kick Butts Day, and they will help you connect with people in your community who can participate in events in the future! You can find instructions for these activities (and much more!) in our Kick Butts Day Back to School Guide.
Don’t believe us? See what one of our youth advocates has to say:
"To me, Kick Butts Day is a great way to further spread our cause throughout our community. Kicks Butts Day often encompasses a specific issue through a project day or a community event. In this way, we can raise awareness about tobacco control beyond what we are normally capable of doing. It’s also a great deal of fun — the day can include sports events, large posters, and rallies. This often leads to media events, which further spreads our message to as many people as possible, allowing our prevention to have the greatest impact that it can. Kick Butts Day is definitely something that I look forward to!
